Social Media Clean Up on Aisle 1

I deleted my Facebook account this morning and my Instagram account this afternoon. I think the whole mess is going to get worse before it gets better. It amazes me the stuff people will post on social media, in general, and Facebook, in particular.

I had some Facebook friends – mostly former high school classmates, the former BFF (2 years and counting of IRL radio silence), some co-workers and some retired cohorts from other school districts. In 2018, I think I logged in 3 times (including the time I logged in to delete my account). I had not posted anything to Facebook in 2018.

I debated with myself a bit more about my Instagram account (owned by Facebook). I enjoyed Instagram much more than Facebook. I followed a bunch of tech reviewers, world travelers (with the impossibly beautiful and perfectly composed pictures) and foster cat/kitten accounts. In the end, I decided that it was in my best interest to delete the account.

Be safe. Be kind to each other.
